Raton Public Schools

2018 - 2019 Calendar PDF

Welcome back, I hope everyone has had a nice break.   At the Raton Public Schools we continue to strive to accomplish all the goals we have set.    As the year continues to move forward it is important keep students on pace to be successful on New Mexico Standards Based Testing and End of Course Exams.  Staff, parents, and students all working together will make our schools successful.   This time of the year can be long and overwhelming for students, but with support from staff and parents, we can make a difference.

Each school continues to strive to achieve academic goals they have set for themselves.  We have many initiatives in our schools that are beneficial to everyone.   The initiatives we have are the Reads to Lead Grant.  This grant allowed for extra interventionist in our elementary schools to assist in reading.   Result Driven Accountability is a program offered by the state.  This program brings in a reading and math coach once a month to work with all staff at our elementary schools.  They also send up a team to evaluate our schools and give valuable feedback on ways to improve.  The Positive Behavior Intervention Initiative is allowing more positive feedback to students daily.  We do offer afterschool tutoring for students.  The high school has partnered with Santa Fe Community College and Eastern New Mexico University to give students an opportunity to get college credit before they graduate.  We started out with 5 courses that count for dual credit and we are hoping to expand the courses each year.

Stay safe and warm this winter.
